Modern digital technologies allow teachers to use various online platforms in their professional activities. I would like to share my experience of using the Liveworksheets service when learning English.
The Liveworksheets service allows you to convert traditional printed worksheets (doc, pdf, jpg...) into interactive online exercises with automatic verification. Interactive worksheets take full advantage of new technologies used in education: they can include sounds, videos, drag-and-drop exercises, arrow connections, multiple choice, and even speaking exercises that students must perform using a microphone, which is relevant for learning a foreign language.
The service allows you to create your own interactive worksheets, or you can use those shared by other teachers. The site has several thousand interactive sheets covering many languages and subjects.
In order to create your own interactive workers, you need to upload your document (doc, pdf, jpg...), and it will be converted into an image. Then you need to draw squares on the sheet and enter the correct answers. There are also several commands that you need to know if you need to create drag-and-drop exercises, connecting with arrows, conversational exercises. All commands can be studied in a textbook or video tutorial posted on the website.
It should be noted that there is a limit on the number of interactive sheets, if you want to keep them confidential – 30 personal sheets. If you share your interactive worksheets with other teachers, you can make as many of them as you want.
If you liked the finished task sheet, you can save it in your favorite sheets.
The service allows you to distribute tasks in 2 ways. The simplest: You send the link to the interactive worksheet to the students, they open the worksheet, do the exercises and click "Done". Then they select "Send my answers to the teacher" and enter your email address (or secret access code). You will receive an email notification, and you will be able to check the responses of all your students in your mailbox. There is no limit to the number of sheets your students can send you, but all their answers will be deleted after 30 days.
The most difficult, but much better option: you can create your own interactive workbooks and add your favorite worksheets (your own or other teachers). To do this, you need to register your students (they can also register themselves with your secret key code) and assign them books. After that, students can open workbooks with their username and password and perform exercises. You can check their work at any time, assign homework and add comments or notes.
Students can optionally register their email address to receive notifications about homework assignments and teacher comments.
Interactive workbooks are easy to set up, allow teachers to leave feedback and save the answers of all your students for an unlimited time. For these reasons, they are our recommended option, although it takes longer at first.
Are there any restrictions in interactive books?
Yes, there are some limitations: you can create up to 10 interactive workbooks (120 pages each) and register up to 100 students.
Interactive worksheets can be posted on your own website or blog. To do this, a special code: just open the sheet and click "Paste to my website or blog". There you will receive a code to insert on your site. Worksheets can be downloaded in pdf format, if the author has allowed this option, no more than 10 sheets per day.
In conclusion, it was found that the use of this digital application is very beneficial in helping students to submit their assignment consistently as they are involved in play-based learning. They love to do the assignments and teachers should be keen and creative in choosing digital online application.It has a positive impact on education and the findings of previous studies suggest that the gamification approach is appropriate for the teaching and learning process of students for motivation .
