Use of modern educational technologies in language lessons

Today, significant changes are taking place in school education, which cover almost all aspects of the pedagogical process. The student's personal interest is a crucial factor in the educational process. As a teacher, I need to know which aspects of a child's personality can be influenced by English language skills, which technologies can be used in the educational process in order to get the planned results. I believe that one of the main tasks is to improve the teacher's pedagogical skills by mastering modern technologies of teaching and upbringing. Pedagogical technology is the design of the educational process based on the use of a set of methods, techniques and forms of organizing training and educational activities that increase the effectiveness of training, the use of which has a clearly defined result. With the mastery of any new technology, a new pedagogical thinking of the teacher begins: clarity, structure, clarity of the methodological language, the appearance of a reasonable norm in the teaching process.

The use of technology has become an important part of the learning process in and out of the class. Every language class usually uses some form of technology. Technology has been used to both help and improve language learning. Technology enables teachers to adapt classroom activities, thus enhancing the language learning process. Technology continues to grow in importance as a tool to help teachers facilitate language learning for their learners.

This study focuses on the role of using new technologies in learning English as a foreign language. It discussed different attitudes which support English language learners to increase their learning skills through using technologies.

Why is technology important? How important is technology in education?

There are countless reasons why technology is a key aspect of learning in the schools. Whether we like it or not, technology is everywhere; and in order for our students to survive in post-secondary education and the business world, they must know technology.

We came up with 10 reasons for the importance of technology in education:

Students demand it.

Students are engaging with technology constantly outside of the classroom. Kids like to be interactive, and learning through technology has now become a part of their lifestyle.

New teachers are demanding it.

The technology movement has been implemented in post-secondary education as well as other professional jobs. For new teachers, technology is considered a necessity for the learning environment.

Kids are the digital native.

Kids know technology better than most adults. It has become the easiest way they learn, because it is such an integral part of their life. Engaging with technology in the classroom has not only helped them learn better, but they also acquire multi-tasking skills. At this day in age, they hardly know how to learn without it. This knowledge is important, because they would be way behind in the real world without it.

Kids can learn at their own pace.

We know from years of experience that kids learn at their own pace, but sometimes the traditional classroom makes it difficult to do so. With the integration of technology in education, children have the ability to slow down and go back over lessons and concepts, and more advanced kids can go ahead. It also frees up the teacher to help kids on a more one-on-one level.

With technology, there are no limitations.

Having access to other information outside of the book gives students many different ways to learn a concept. Teachers can come up with creative ways to teach their students that keeps them engaged. Technology has changed the learning environment so that learning is more hands-on. Schools throughout the nation are diverse in income, and often kids don’t always get the resources they need. The implementation of technology in schools helps close that gap.

Technology has the ability to enhance relationships between teachers and students.

When teachers effectively integrate technology into subject areas, teachers grow into roles of adviser, content expert, and coach. Technology helps make teaching and learning more meaningful and fun. Students are also able to collaborate with their own classmates through technological applications.

The effectiveness of the use of information and communication technologies in the field of foreign language teaching depends on the chosen methodology, methods and forms of their application. It is very important how well the teacher knows the methodology of working with computer technologies, what resources are used in teaching activities. Communicative method: To create a communicative environment in the classroom, it is important to maintain high activity of each student. Even if the children are silent, they can be busy with mental work: to think about their answer, to comprehend the statements of the interlocutors. It is not easy to create such an environment. It is important for the teacher to gather the attention of all those present with the task of extracting and using information from the dialogue or monologue of students, and commenting on the response of friends. It is very important to encourage each student's answers for perseverance, ingenuity, and extraordinary thinking. Project method: One of the ways to activate students in the learning process.

The use of modern information technologies in English lessons creates the necessary conditions for the development of the creative personal potential of students and expands the possibilities of advanced language education. I consider it relevant to use multimedia technologies in the classroom ("multimedia" - modern digital technologies that make it possible to combine the achievements of audiovisual technology (texts, sounds, video images, graphics, etc.), which provide interactive interaction between the user and the computer. The specificity of the computer as a learning tool is associated with its characteristics such as complexity, versatility, interactivity. Interactive learning based on multimedia programs allows you to more fully implement a whole range of methodological, didactic, pedagogical and psychological principles, makes the learning process more interesting, creative and personality-oriented. Opportunities to take into account the levels of language training.

Among these techniques are online English language learning web sites, computer assisted language learning programs, presentation software, electronic dictionaries, chatting and email messaging programs, listening CD-players, and learning video-clips.

With the mastery of any new technology, a new pedagogical thinking of the teacher begins: clarity, structure, clarity of the methodological language, the appearance of a reasonable norm in the methodology. Applying new pedagogical technologies in the classroom, I became convinced that the process of teaching English can be viewed from a new point of view and master the psychological mechanisms of personality formation, achieving better results. As you know, at present, a successful professional and social career is impossible without a willingness to master new technologies, adapt to different working conditions, and solve new professional tasks. Education should be aimed at the formation of the graduate's key competencies, which mean the ability to effectively organize their internal and external resources for decision-making and achieving the goal. In my work when teaching a  language, I, in accordance with the concept of a competence-based approach,

technological competence,

ready to solve problems,

 use of information resources,

 readiness for self-education,

readiness for social interaction communication competence.

To improve the effectiveness of the educational process when conducting English lessons I use the following educational technologies taking into account the age characteristics of children.

Traditional teaching methods

The teacher is the sender or the source and the educational material is the information or message. The student is the  receiver of the information which is delivered  via the  ‘ Chalk and talk ’ method  The teacher delivers the lecture content and the students listen to the lecture. The learning  mode tends to be passive and the learners  play little  part in their   learning proccess. It has been found   that the  conventional  lecture approach in classroom is of limited effectiveness in both teaching and learning.

ICT means Information and Communication Technology. According to Kent, “ICT in education point of view refers to Information and Communication Technology such as computers, communications facilities and features that variously support teaching learning and a range of activities in education .

Because of its interactive and dynamic nature ICT has the stamina to meet the needs of the individual student by providing opportunities to direct their learning and to pursue information. With the usage of ICT students can learn any subject especially English with ease. In the context of the global exchange the role of ICT has become inevitable in the 21st century. The use of ICT has become essential in every day classroom teaching and learning. It’s use gives a chance to teachers as well as students to increase the quality of education and meet the requirements set by the coeval knowledge society. ICT has become essential tool for educational change and reform.

The Internet : The internet offers the best way to learn language other than immersion in an English speaking milieu. The student’s relationship with websites is more noticeable than with print based text. Internet users may return to sites frequently or use internet for interaction to share their information and ideas. Digital technology is rapidly used by pupils and teachers not only in the classroom but also in the personal life.

The advantages of online learning: The internet saves our time and energy. we can learn English lessons through internet without the need of travelling and without the need of leaving home or bedroom. With internet students can learn English anywhere at any time and whenever they want. The internet offers instant feedback to the learners which enhance the learning experience of the students.

EBooks

An eBook is an electronic version of a traditional print book that can be read by using a personal or by using an eBook reader like iPods and kindle. EBooks also used to improve the teaching and learning skills in the classroom. In eBooks teachers and students can add images, info graphicsg posters, video, and text, audio and so on. Learners can share eBooks with their friends. EBooks strengthen students’ note making skills, the knowledge of English grammar and application skills.

Kahoot

Most schools encourage teachers to use technology in the classroom, but finding ways to seamlessly integrate technology into class plans can be difficult. Aside from Google Drive and online learning management systems, Kahoot! is the latest addition to many classrooms and it’s here to make learning fun.
